Northern Powergrid Innovation Festival 2020 - Pollywood

26 Aug 2020

12:30pm - 01:30pm

This August we will be showcasing some of the most innovative projects that are helping us to maintain, improve and strengthen the local power infrastructure in the North East, Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire. From groundbreaking new ways of detecting problems to the very latest in drone technology – our best ideas to tackle climate change, fix faults before they impact customers and bring new ideas to the area will be on show.

60,000 wooden electricity poles are needed in the UK every year. Wouldn't it be great if we had an option that used 85% less wood and a better weight:strength ratio than steel? Well we do. It’s called Pollywood and we’ve supported a local inventor to develop it. Join Andrew Webster to find out more.
