Overview
Our region has big decarbonisation plans, with local authorities and other leading organisations driving the transition.
As the electricity distribution network operator for the North East, Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire, we are often asked whether our network has the capacity to support our stakeholders net zero ambitions and so we set out to address key questions around network capacity and availability.
We explained how our Planning Scenario is helping us to prepare for the increase in connections for generation and low carbon technologies like heat pumps and electric vehicle charge points and how our distribution future energy scenarios (DFES) can be used to model changing energy usage in areas of our region, up to 2050.
We also explained how we’re supporting local authorities to develop their local area energy plans and provide insight into current network constraints and the work that is underway nationally to resolve this and also how the insight stakeholders are sharing with us is helping to inform our strategic network development plans and where we will invest in our network to create capacity for new connections.
